Chuck Cavallo
Chuck is accountable for the legal, regulatory and corporate secretary functions of Pin Oak Group, LLC.
Chuck has extensive legal experience in M&A, corporate and business development, corporate finance, commercial/trading and regulatory in the energy industry. Before assuming his current role in January 2022, Chuck was the Managing Partner of Cavallo Law PLLC, advising clients in the energy midstream and downstream sectors.
Prior to his work at Cavallo Law PLLC, Chuck was the Deputy General Counsel – Midstream for Marathon Petroleum Corporation and MPLX LP, where he was primarily responsible for the legal organization supporting the Gathering & Processing and Logistics & Storage business units of Marathon Petroleum Corporation and MPLX LP. Prior to the merger with Marathon Petroleum Corporation, Chuck held several roles of increasing responsibility at Andeavor Corporation and Andeavor Logistics, LP (formerly Tesoro Logistics, LP), including Managing Counsel – Commercial; Associate General Counsel – Commercial & Logistics; and Deputy General Counsel – Commercial & Logistics. Chuck also oversaw the business compliance function (FCPA and antitrust) functions at Andeavor, as well various as litigation and regulatory compliance matters, and was a key leader for due diligence and integration activities.
Prior to Andeavor, Chuck practiced law in the Chicago and Houston offices of McGuireWoods LLP, where he was an associate and then a Partner in the Corporate Practice Group, focusing his work primarily in the oil & gas and banking sectors.
Prior to law school, Chuck was a bond options trader at the Chicago Board of Trade and trust officer at the Northern Trust Bank in Chicago.
Chuck earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and English composition from the University of Illinois – Champaign/Urbana, and a JD/MBA from the Pritzker School of Law and the Kellogg School of Management, respectively, at Northwestern University.
